Our Lessons

Singing lLessons York offers the chance to learn with professional teacher Craig Hill.

I cover a lot of different aspects of singing during our lessons, everything from basic beginner warm up exercises to professional stage performance tuition. So no matter what your level I know I have the lessons to help you reach your singing ambitions.

Some of the aspects of singing that I cover during our lessons can be found below:

Lessons Include:

  • Vocal Exercises to develop your range and ability, including breathing, scales, pitch and how to phrase.
  • Initially choosing the right music style to suit your voice, and progressively moving onto other areas.
  • Stage Craft. Having a good voice is not enough, the next step is to learn how to engage your audience, and mirror the vocals and performance to the venue and setting.
  • Singing along with Live Musicians and understanding the importance of timing and working together in a virtual band setting.
  • Microphone Technique – how to ensure your voice is projected to its full potential (making an impact).
  • An understanding of the Vocal Tech available and how it can support your Live and Studio performance.
  • Ergonomics (Body Posture and relaxation).
  • Singing along to the Backing tracks from your greatest musical influences.

You may be looking at singing in a local choir, at a family get together or performing on a stage with musicians. What fun it would be to let all your friends and family know that you have a hidden talent that you are now wanting to share with them. Maybe even move towards a career in music, sharing your gift with a receptive audience.

If you are young, or in your senior years it is never too late to start singing and understanding the fundamentals of stage performance should you wish to bring your performances to the stage.
